This first video shows Fire Pond Pottery raku firing. We take pieces out of the raku kiln while they are red-hot, and place them in a metal can full of leaves and paper. In addition to raku glazes, we also use Jessica's hair to decorate the pieces.
This second video shows Jessica throwing a large bowl. First she wedges the clay, then she centers it on the wheel. She adds more clay and continues to center. As she is pulling up the clay, she uses a heat gun to keep the sides firm. She ends with some finishing touches.
This third video shows Larry throwing a vase. He centers the clay, and as he pulls the clay up, he keeps the cylindrical shape. Once it is sufficiently tall, he collars in the top to create an elegant vase.
